Life is pretty safe in Nigeria. You just listen to your inner voice which would warn you or make you uncomfortable ahead of dangers with socializing with anyone,  the most important point is Nigeria is expensive , the most expensive place I have visited in Africa , so unless you have over 3000€ for two weeks for one person don't go. Anyway In the black Africa Kenya is much better.
